The title track for the album was one of the last songs JK and I recorded for the project. We were trying to come up with a title for the album and JK suggested that I write something that would reflect the tone and feeling of the project. Since we have been friends since grade 8 back in 1967, I wanted make the song be about our friendship over the years. I came up with some ideas like the time we tried dipping some White Owl cigars in wine and rum to mimic Old Port cigars which were advertised as “Wine Dipped and Rum Tipped”. It didn’t work so well and we both turned a few shades of green as a result of lighting up behind JK’s uncle’s barn. Although that particular image didn’t make the cut, JK and I tossed a few more ideas around and came up with a final version that focussed on our how our songwriting adventures have matured over the years. Once it was finished we had no doubts that “Full Circle” would become the title track for the album.

Verse 1
I had a best friend when I was 14
We were young and green
Writing songs and playing guitar
We had a million dollar scheme
We were gonna buy fast cars and become big stars
Bound for fortune and fame
But a binder of lyrics with all of the chords
That was as close as we came

Chorus 1
I wrote the word he wrote the music
Life was a sweet melody
I told the story he and sang the songs
We were learning and living the dream

Verse 2
We spent most of our high school days together
We were more like brothers than friends
But boys become men and we went separate ways
But the dream didn’t end
Every so often we’d get together reliving our younger days
And it called up an old song from deep in my heart
It’s like we were 14 again

Chorus 2
When I wrote the words and he wrote the music
Life was a sweet melody
I told the story and he sang the songs
We were learning and living the dream

Verse 3
Now that we’re older and we’ve come full circle
A little wiser than we used to be
We’re still writing song and playing guitar
with a touch more of reality
Maybe not fast cars or becoming big stars
Or finding fortune and fame
But in our hearts we’re still 14
That memory will always remain

Chorus 3
When I wrote the words and he wrote the music
Life was a sweet melody
I told the story and he sang the songs
We were learning and living the dream
